No, I am not talking about high school kids in Newark growing marijuana in their class rooms. I am talking about “green” or “sustainable” high performance buildings. Newark high school student will be able to enjoy a healthier environment while learning. Beautifully, well design building with the latest technology available. During the design process, the community was involved (that does not mean their suggestions were taken in consideration) several aspects of the design. Now, students enjoy enormous amount of daylight provided by skylights and windows giving them a sense of freedom.

During the design process, energy tools were used to determine the best construction materials, highly-efficient heating, cooling, and lighting systems fueled by renewable sources to use throughout the building. Also environment impact was taking in consideration. I am not sure what is the "LEED" rating for this building is, but I can tell you that finally someone in Newark has a brain and is not afraid to use it.
